Brief correction: the sages say the book’s out next summer. I know, I’d like Christmas now too. Lucky for you, I have the output rate exclusive to cocaine, genius, or madness. I’m a dry idiot, so you know what’s at work.
To understand addiction, look at election coverage. Media withdrawal from a horse-race primary is tangible. Times editors are covered in spiders. Entire j-school reunions have turned into interventions. It’s bedlam.
If you know someone on the primary beat, tell them you’re there. That you love them, and won’t judge them. And that there’s help.
I have two arms again. I’m going to play so much double dutch. The playgrounds of the world should beware: a storm is coming.
It’s a joy to return to the habits and goals that caused the issue. Self-inflicted problems have much more charm than the whims of the Universe. There’s a sense of justice. “What were you thinking?” is a much softer question than “Why God?”
The Present
I took a warm-up tilt at General Lee.
Creationists are only good at parodying themselves.
Evidently real manhood is mostly filler.
This (free) column is my favorite of the year so far.
Everything Abridged makes your dreams real.
The Past
I got a nice email about this climate riff. Not even being sarcastic, it was great.
The Future
An idea for an Exclusive Evil felt a bit flat on the page. So I’m going back into the field. Wish me luck, the news says that everything out there’s on fire.
Not Brought to You By
Sometimes I’m torn.
This old D&D ad has a look connected to an idea. Washed out normal world, shiny fantasy life. That scans. And the product doesn’t turn kittens in cluster bombs.
That said, the headline’s borderline stock, which is odd for a product that’s 98% storytelling. But that’s not my hangup. At this point, I’m happy when gaming copy sounds like English.
I suppose the angle feels beside the point? Borderline defensive? D&D wasn’t about your image until it collided with inane unlistenable very lovely podcasts.
But there’s a spark. I suppose that’s why we have a full grading scale. Not everything is Raytheon vagueposting about the future.

Thanks for reading Extra Evil, the newsletter predicting the seasons. Share it for more snow.
I was worried about your Wednesday streak and feared the NYPD finally got you for good. Glad to see otherwise.
Also, your pub date makes way more sense now. Nobody wants to run into the buzzsaw of the election this fall, and this industry isn't exactly associated with speed.
Are you on the Shogun bandwagon? For once, I've boarded the Zeitgeist on schedule.
“It’s joy to return to the habits and goals that caused the issue.” This pretty much sums up life!
