War Journal
Overheard on Planet Coffee:
Espresso Machine: I’m thinking of moving to Brazil.
Register: I’ll miss you, man.
Espresso Machine: No, I mean…I’m just thinking.
Register: It would be cool though.
Espresso Machine: Just thinking.
Register: You can do it.

An impulse I'm trying to tame: getting annoyed at stock lines in real life. It's a little insane to hold people on the street to sitcom standards. Or even open mic standards. Going outside is great, but you have to meet outside on it's terms.

I thought we'd have a healthier dictator. Well, a healthier looking dictator. It's an image-obsessed country, and Trump looks like he died on a Home Alone set.

Sometimes, your flaws work for you. With recommendation letters, I let my ego take over. If they win it, it's like I won it. And I'm an extreme tryhard.

I'm experimenting with promo videos for the newsletter, book, and column. I chafe with the process, so I don't post them here. But perhaps that attitude's the problem. My guiding light elsewhere is "produce what you want to see." A riddle, when I grumble at short-form video.
The solution is, as always, taking myself less seriously. And adding two hours to the day. I'll start with the first part.

The Present
- My new novel brings romance into your life. [How to Dodge a Cannonball]
- Sometimes, I push the column as far as it can go. [1900HOTDOG]
- Everything Abridged makes it love. [My Previous Book]
The Past
I'm told this is the darkest topic I've touched.
The Future
I have a funny/illegal idea, that should manifest in September/October. Maybe this month if I abandon all other duties in my life.
Dead Sun Theory
Educating still sits heavy on the sleep schedule. Soon.
Not Brought to You By
Back to the subway scene. The mean streets of outdoor ads. Who are the new players?

My bad, we've got the same failures. The MTA remains the class reunion of advertising. Faces you celebrated leaving behind, plus the dehumanizing lens of time.
Are we still doing this, Taskrabbit? Plastering the dumbest jokes of never around the world? Stealing pop punchlines that were old the week the song came out?

From now on, I'm swimming between islands.
