Louis CK released a new internet-wide flamewar. Manchin got everyone coal. Putin's workshopped new names for Ukrainian cities. The FDA approved a COVID pill for half the country to avoid. Hospitals are crushed under massive joy and goodwill towards men. December's been a bit cold for spring.
War Journal
It's the anniversary of my Mom's death, which tends to set the tone for the holidays. I can rant about commercialism or Mariah Carey, but you don't need a PhD to pick at the psychological roots of my determination to ruin everyone else's party. My version of the Grinch starts at Memorial Sloan-Kettering. I dedicated Everything Abridged to her, which is redundant since half the stories are some kind of reflection on her and her world. But it's nice to have a direct line in there.

This week I knuckled down and got back to what matters: New Vegas DLC. I can confidently say I got more moments out of Dead Money then I do out of most complete game releases, and that it's a landmark in my personal media history.

I just reached the point where Seinfeld hit it's stride. Larry David deserves his money pile.
The Present
I'm in The New Yorker's Daily Shouts with "I, The Spirit of Christmas, Cannot be Stopped." I think it's a lot of fun, and hope you do to. Think of Santa as a reaper for this one.

The Future
I've got another New Yorker feature coming on the 29th. Very different topic and tone from the first two, which helps me believe that I might have a second thought bouncing around my skull.
